REALLY Lo Profile
How excited do you think I was - as a long-time listener to Gaydar Radio - when I finally made my trip across the pond, and wanted to visit Lo Profile!? I was visiting my sister, and I assumed we could get in to the club (as we did last time I visited on a Saturday). Boy, was I wrong!?
We were turned away by a lady and a gentleman, (and I use these terms loosely) because I had too many girls with me (I had 4 - including my sister). I was told that if I brought these women into the club (again, as I had six months before), many people complain on the internet about the number of women in the gay establishment. Too bad for them - I’m ALSO on the internet.
I came to London excited about visiting the club attached to the radio station I listened to every day. Silly me for thinking that my listening to Gaydar Radio entitled me to equal treatment when it comes to admission to their club. What would happen if a straight establishment turned me away because I am gay!?
Maybe I’m naive, but I thought my pink pound was as good as the next. I planned to cover the cost of admission (£10 x 5) plus a round of drinks for my friends (£100 or more). Instead of visiting Lo Profile, my friends and I went to the bar around the corner (Escape), and spent our time and money there. I wish them the best.
I was looking forward to a traditional Sunday roast at Profile and even a performance as part of the Secret Sunday series, buy I’ll spend my money elsewhere. Sorry, Simon, Alex and Phil - your bouncers have hurt - and possibly lost you a devoted, long-time listener. I’d love to have spent my pink pounds at your place, but my straight friends are too much for your door staff to handle.
